MORE ABOUT MY TIME WITH THE MASSART COSTUME CLUB

At the end of my freshman year I was taken aside by my Costume Club upperclassmen and asked to take over the club as they would be graduating soon. The club had only been created by them that year and was still rather small so it became a bit of an undertaking, but I was honored and gladly embraced the responsibilities of running the running the club for the next three years. I invited a fellow Costume Club member and friend of mine, Nova, to become my co-representative and throughout the years we accomplished some wonderful things for the club and got to pass it on when we were seniors in the same way it was passed to me. Listed below are some of our acheivments.

• Weekly meetings for dedicated crafting time, general costuming discussions, and help and critique as needed.

• Workshops and Demonstrations from both club members and local costume artists to introduce new or inaccessable techniques students may not otherwise have access to learning.

• Funded Student Projects to allow students to explore new and interesting areas of costuming that may not be able to afford otherwise.

• Local Convention Trips to allow students the chance to attend costuming panels and workshops outside of the ones the club put on as well as give them the opportunity to make connections within the Boston costuming community.

• Studio and Location Photoshoots for students to get their work professionally photographed for their portfolios.
