Aw man I put off getting into podcasts for a long time because it seemed like such a hassle to get into a whole new format of storytelling that I would then have to keep up with on top of my usual anime-watching and gaming, but after listening to The Adventure Zone (at the time there was only Balance) quickly followed by Critical Role (Vox Machina) and having friends recommending me more and more story-based podcasts, I finally gave The Magnus Archives a shot and I'm so glad I did! It's become one of my favorite podcasts ever and Michael has become one of my favorite malicious spirals. To be very clear though just one of — it would be disrespectful to Junji Ito to claim otherwise.

This costume is an original design based on limited on audio description and vibes provided by the podcast itself. It was patterned by making a button down mock up from my collection of slopers and drawing a simplified version of MC Escher's "Relativity" on to the front. I then cut out the individual shapes in different colors with seam allowance, and hand pieced everything together. Sewing the rest of the shirt was pretty standard. Wish I had some funky hand props to go with this outfit but I'm still not quite sure how I'd want to interpret them — one day!
