MadDog, known as telekineticManiac in the cosplay scene, is a highly awarded cosplayer and YouTube Partner based in Boston, Massachusetts. They create unique mixed-media costumes and fashion pieces utilizing skills like garment construction, metals fabrication, thermoplastics, and mold-making and casting, and have been praised for their design and material choices as well as clean execution of advanced techniques. Their work has been shown in exhibits across the state and most recently they were awarded 1st Place Master Craftsmanship at the Anime Boston Masquerade in 2024 for their Set of the Depths from the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

While they started cosplaying as a teenager in 2012, unusual and challenging character designs have been a life-long interest of theirs. From infamously insisting "wanna be em-nem" for Halloween at the ripe old age of two, to creating their first Craftsmanship Grand Prize winning costume, the Nightwalker from Princess Mononoke (1997) — a character that appears in the film for mere moments and has a body that is Jell-o-like in consistency — they frequently take on exciting projects that stand out even amongst ballgowns and armor builds.

In 2023 they started taking on extensive cosplay research projects to learn about and document contest trends and community history, and they have been sharing their findings on YouTube as well as through gigantic Google Sheets and Docs projects. Their work is ongoing but has already garnered tens of thousands of views and hundreds of likes and comments. Altogether, it is a window looking into what the cosplay community has been, is, and wants to become, and has impacted both individuals' understanding of cosplay, and how events and brands approach working with cosplayers, and the driving force behind pop culture that they are.
